What instrument is this?!?

They use it a lot in horror movies for a metallic high pitched noise. I've only seen the instrument once on a tv show, it looked like a medium sized metal sphere filled half way with water with various lengths of metal poles protruding upward from the equator of the sphere. and when they rubbed the rods and rolled the ball it made the noise that i know EVERYONE has heard in horror movies. If this sounds familiar to anyone please let me know!
