It would probably be a good idea to take him to the vet and have them check for a bladder infection just to be on the safe side. Some dogs can have crystals in there urine or bladder stones. This can be a serious life threatening problem. If its a bladder infection then a course of antibiotics should resolve it. The vet will probably want to do some blood work to check his kidney function.
