What consequences did Germany face after WWI?
The Treaty of Versailles, which ended the war, demanded that Germany accept responsibility for starting the war and pay heavy economic reparations. Germany itself was not included in the negotiations of the treaty and was forced to sign it, which caused humiliation in the German people as the blame was shifted on them. The blockade of Germany, which had begun at the beginning of the war, continued through. The German economy suffered greatly, and countries that were once under control of the Germanic empire were taken away from it. Geographically, Germany was sliced up like much of Europe.
